Market News April 2018

HEADINGLEY FARMERS’ MARKET SATURDAY 14th APRIL 2018 (2nd Saturday of the month)

The March Market was a bit cold and wet at first but the rain stopped for the special visit of The Lord Mayor of Leeds Cllr Jane Dowson. She was very impressed by the Market and spoke to all the stallholders and lots of shoppers and did some shopping herself. You can see lots of pictures of her visit on Twitter. The children’s game was as successful as ever and part of the prize was of course easter eggs.

In April we will have a new Guest stall Plate2Plate who sell high quality compost pellets that they have produced in Leeds. Glutenfreekz are NOT able to attend for the next 3 Markets but Happifoods and Country Markets sell some delicious gluten free products. Stickeys Honey and Whiteleys will be back.

MELANIES CHOCOLATE with their yummy, beautifully presented chocolates.

BEALES STRAWBERRIES The sign of spring returns! We hope the weather will be warm enough for the strawberries to ripen though they are grown in poly tunnels so fingers crossed.

PLATE2PLATE A new Stall. Leeds made compost pellets for you gardeners.

Please note that Yorkshire Dama Cheese may have changed their name to Squeaky Cheese but they still sell the very same award winning cheese. They will also be bringing other Syrian foods for you to try.  Lincolnshire Poacher sell raw milk and butter from their farm as well as cheeses.

Our monthly game for the kids is becoming more and more popular. We make up a different game every month – always fun to do and everyone gets a small prize. Come to the Headingley Development Trust (HDT) Stall to join in.

The HDT Stall has lots of information about events in Headingley. If you are not already a member of HDT you can give your support to the many local projects it runs, by becoming a member for £5.  HDT has just launched a Community Share Offer to create the Headingley Investment Fund. Come and get information about this exciting development. The stall also sells the red Farmers’ Market shoulder bags for £4 each and they last for years!

Don’t forget your recycling- egg boxes, jars and bottles. You can also get refills of olive oil from Yannis’s stall.

We do not sell hot food and drinks at the Market as there are lots of cafes in Headingley. Why not have a coffee or lunch at The Assembly Bar and Kitchen at HEART on nearby Bennett Rd. It also has a lovely garden area and like the Farmers’ Market it is an HDT project so please support it.

We look forward to seeing you, your friends and family 9-12.30 on Saturday 14th April at the Rose Garden, Headingley LS6 3JJ.
